For The Nile (439)

The chain that links our past,
through affirmative actions,
the time of segregation,
to the time we were taking whips to our back
Sold by the bundles
Desired by the strengths of our hands

Inhaled hallowed winds
Hollow souls handled us cruelly
Thier cruelty re-created in me
Thoughts of hate for me internally
The havoc of segregated civilian territory
Was a civilization that wasn't civil with we

I state again:
The havoc of segregated civilian territory
Was a civilization that wasn't civil with we

Me?
Na, I'm not complaining
Boss man
This type of work may be hard for you but easy for me
For we are defendants of the first man
Sons of Adam

Who all ya'll claim to be a masonic man?
But Damn
A whip to my back because I want to take a break

Can...
You not see these songs
These hollers....
Are about you;
The weak
The ones who couldn't even resist your own disease
I'm talking about you!

Please
Let me be......

But I know why you can't let me walk around here free
Scared of the rebellious black man that I can be

I see
I just want my mother....
The motherland to hold me
I just want to be home again
Where I was first shackled and knocked to my knees
You said my heart had to be stripped from my being
For you to instill beliefs in me.

Of me being beneath even the hole that you pie in

Present day....
Not much has change
But is it still segregation to blame?
Or the fact that our ancestors carried
the insecurities from tyrannical act in their veins?
